Make the Link, is once again participating in 16 Days of Activism against Gendered Violence 2016, from 25 November, The International day for the elimination of violence against women until 10 December, Human Rights Day. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, create discussion and encourage action that will create lasting culture change, prevent and end violence against women. To be part of the large international voice and to make a difference to the lives of women and girls.
Our focus this year is on ‘Making gender equality the norm to end violence against
women’. We have created 16 messages of what Gender Equality means, sometimes challenging a thought provoking messages, aimed at noticing and questioning the inequality all around us.
We will share one message each day across our social sites during 16 days of Activism. Encourage everyone to share them within their networks to create discussion, insight and ultimately action.
We are also going ORANGE this year. The UN Women lead initiative UNiTE campaign uses Orange to symbolise a bright future without violence. Join us and colour your 16 Days with Orange.
We are also launching a new animation ‘Why we need to Make the Link to end violence against women’ on Wednesday 30 November at the Gippsland Sport’s Forum. We hope the animation will help create greater understand about the importance gender equality has on preventing violence against women and improving women’s safety and wellbeing.
We acknowledge the support of the Victorian Government’s Victoria Against Violence campaign.
