Violence isn’t part of our culture

'Violence isn't part of our culture' Daph

Violence is not part of our culture.

As an Aboriginal person I recognise culture as a strength, it connects me to my family, community and country.  It is recognised that culture is a protective factor that supports the healing, health and well being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

When we are able to practice, participate and re-engage in cultural practices and activities it improves our quality of our life, and with support, helps us to be safe and heal.

If you or someone you know is impacted by sexual assault, family or domestic violence, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732 or visit In an emergency, call 000.

Thank you to our guest bloggers and community advocates for taking part in our Gender Equality Matters 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign.
